MEET THE DETROIT FILM KIDS
The Following DETROIT FILM KIDS have graduated from High School and moved on to further their careers, many majoring in Media & Film programs at Universities. We will forever be grateful for their dedication and contribution to the Detroit Film Kids, Inc. We will continue to support them, for without them, we would not exist. The Detroit Film Kids offer scholarships and graduation gifts to all of their graduates. We do our best to help further a long the careers of our youth.
Ronnie Fields (16 Years Old)
Writer/Director
Ronnie is the 1st Detroit Film Kid to get things started. As an ambitious 15 year old, in 2018, Ronnie wrote her 1st script "WHY BULLY ME?" in just 3 days. She used the free Screenwriting Program CELTX. In 2019 Ronnie worked as a Production Assistant on the Web Series "Booked" a show Written and Directed by Comedy Central Actress Shawntay Dalon. "Booked" went on to be an Official Selection at the Indie Nights Film Festival. Ronnie will be Directing her first "WHY BULLY ME?" during the Summer of 2019 on the historic Detroit Riverwalk.
Takiyah Mabene - Class of 2021 Graduate - Redford Union High School/Former Cody High Student
Writer/Director/Actress/Producer
In 2019 Takiyah wrote her 1st script entitled "What Happens Tomorrow?" using the Final Draft Screenwriting Program. In 2018, as a bubbly 9th grader Takiyah was cast in the short film "Social Conflict" a film created by R&B sensation Nicci Gilbert (lead singer of the group Brownstone). Social Conflict went on to be an Official Selection in 2 Film Festivals. During the Summer of 2019, Takiyah starred as Chelsea in the short "Why Bully Me?", a short film written by Detroit Film Kids, Ronnie Fields. "Why Bully Me?" was selected in 3 film festivals. During the 2020 COVID epidemic Takiyah Produced "Inside Talk w/The Detroit Film Kids." An interview show that included interviews with Hollywood Writer/Director/Producers Wesley Johnson, Sean Williams, Platinum Record Producer Zaytoven and famed Director/Actress/Teacher Tasha Smith. Takiyah is currently majoring in Mass Media and Communication at Wilberforce College. Way to go Takiyah!! WE ARE PROUD OF YOU!!
Asia Guinn - Class of 2020 Graduate - Cody High School Detroit
Producer/Editor/Graphic Artist
As a young filmmaker Asia has workd on talent releases, location agreements, casting and editing. In 2019 Asia created the 1st logo for The Detroit Film Kids and is currently building their website. She also had a chance to work with Filmmaker Curtis "Al Nuke Franklin as a Production Assistant on the Zaytoven music video "NERVOUS" starring Kashdoll & Icewear Vezzo. Asia is currently majoring in Business Administration at AIU online. Way to go Asia!!! We are very proud of you!!!

Giovionnie Hudson (15 years old)
DP/Producer
At 14 Giovionnie expressed an interest in Photography and Video. He was able to work as a DP on set with Jerry Productions, Exclusive Films & MULA FILMS. A local film company, doing major things nationally with their popular films Buffed Up & 211. As a Detroit Film Kid Giovionnie has worked on obtaining Sponsorhip and findiing film festivals for their finished projects and created the team Facebook page. Giovionnie will work as DP in during the Detroit Film Kids 2019 film shoots for "Why Bully Me?" & "What Happens Tomorrow?"
Jewel Thompson (16 Years Old)
Producer
Jewel started filmmaking in 2018 as an energetic 9th grader. In 2019 she worked as a Production Assistant at both Sareta Cheathem's Screenwriters Workshop at the Detroit Public Library as well as on the Web Series "Booked" a show Written and Directed by Comedy Central Actress Shawntay Dalon. "Booked" went on to be an Official Selection at the Indie Nights Film Festival. Jewel will Produce her first 2 films "WHY BULLY ME?" & "WHAT HAPPENS TOMORROW?" during the Summer of 2019.
Mariah Murray (16 Years Old)
Producer/IMDB Specialist/Writer
Mariah joined her fellow classmates in 2018, when she worked with Ronnie Fields on the original "WHY BULLY ME? " script. Mariah quickly learned how to register films on the IMDB (Internet Movie Data Base) online database. Mariah will Produce her first 2 films "WHY BULLY ME?" & "WHAT HAPPENS TOMORROW?" during the Summer of 2019 with her Detroit Film Kids Crew!
